Having secured a degree and PGCE I moved to London to begin my career in a very large and bouncy secondary school in 2000. I loved my job and worked my way up the career ladder quickly. My passion to support young people's well being led me to complete an MA in Inclusive Education which underpinned my values in my various roles. Indeed my dissertation was based on the need for student voice in schools.
Having lived experience of trauma and mental health issues my empathy for the young people was so strong that I decided to pursue roles in pastoral leadership, safeguarding and wellbeing. Leading me to secure my SENDCo qualification , a diploma in SEND and becoming a trauma informed practitioner.
My experiences in mainstream , SEN and outreach settings has enhanced my skills and led me to want to set up my own bespoke business supporting young people and their families. So the concept of climbing fish was born. As I continue to grow and evolve so too will the business and as of Summer 2026 we are now taking on associate tutors to support the growing need.
As well as education related support I have completed my accessible yoga teacher training . This now enables me to bring a whole new element to my support packages, not just for young people but adults too. My approach to yoga is , as everything in my life, focused on inclusive practices and creating adaptations so all can be involved. Furthermore completing my facilitator training meaning that from Autumn 2026 I will be holding women's circles focused to support SEND Mums; providing a time to connect back with themselves in a shared space.
So what's next? I have recently gained my NPQSL and am studying for my NPQH. With this leadership qualification I have gained a much deeper insight into educational leadership. I have a long term to vision to create a community based learning hub - watch this space!!
